12 May Seattle Times ad asks America to be a real friend to Israel: Friends don’t let friends commit genocide
posted from Seattle, WA May 11, 2024
I’m running an ad in the A-section of the Seattle Times on May 12, 2024.
The ads words, so this is searchable:
HEADLINE: Friends don’t let friends commit genocide. Israel needs real friends
Those who are sharply criticizing Israel and demanding a cease-fire are being put on the defensive. But what if it’s the other way around? Sometimes your truest friend is actually the one who holds you back, like the drinking buddy who puts you in a shoulder-lock at the bar.
America and President Biden: Let’s be true friends to Israel!
-written 5/7/24 with the hope of a truce in the news
The ad speaks for itself. In the course of writing it, I had originally intended to say more than fit into the space. I also wanted to make a few points about the current state of leadership in Israel. Here’s what I cut out: “Netanyahu, who is Israel’s Donald Trump, failed to listen to the warnings of women–both on the frontline and in the security leadership–and 22 Israeli women soldiers died on Oct 7 as their calls went unanswered. Netanyahu has no peace plan–and never has had one, even though relying solely on force will never guarantee a nation’s security. Biden must not mistake servile obedience to the current leader for true friendship to the people and Nation of Israel.
