A Simple Misconception about the Stock Market is helping Trump–plus more on Progressive Conservatism & Monetary Policy

The misconception is that stock market gains are all about the health of US corporations. Some part of stock market gains are simply inflation. The stock market is subject to inflation in the same way a bag of potatoes is subject to inflation. In the above movie, I spend 6 minutes saying this.

The problem this is creating is that there is a certain group of voters who will say: “I don’t love Trump, but look at that stock market. He obviously knows what he’s doing.” While stock market gains are great for investors, and while they are a signal of health in the economy but that signal can be amplified by the sickness of inflation.
