A line from Blondie’s brilliant hit song Picture This always amused me “I will give you my finest hour, the one I spent watching you shower…” Watching the right person shower could be fantastic, but not for an hour. However, Delia and I have literally watched birds bathe for hours, that’s elapsed time. When birds bathe, they flutter their wings so as to create a shower for themselves.

That’s why the movie posted here, which is video of migrating Birds bathiing in Butyl Creek, is to the song “Picture this,” by Debbie Harry of Blondie. The version I used is from Blondie’s Greatest Hits. Now, the lyrics go on to place the song squarely in December, a terrible month for migration, there basically isn’t any in December. But the alternative was “Splish Splash I was takin a bath” by Bobby Darin (who I quite like, but it’s wrong for Warblers) so forgive me.

That’s Butyl Falls on the upper-left and Butyl Creek winding down to Pumphouse Lake.
