This painting was begun in 1998 and abandoned. Recently Jens Klinner asked me to go through my stacked paintings and I found it and refinished it. The Cougar is crossing a wetland which is based on the riverine oxbow wetlands in the Cascades Western Slope, some ref shots were from Nehalem I believe, but the setting could be many places across the US or Canada.
