This is a modestly faithful rendition of a scene from Washington’s outer coast whose exact location will not be given in deference to a friend named Paul (not Newman) who loves to backpack there and has noticed a steady increase in its popularity over the last 40 years. Paul and his nephew came back from one trip with a short movie of four distant River Otters scurrying and scampering across the beach in front of the seastack-with-a-hole. The otters are distant in the film but their famous love-of-life is fully conveyed. In my painting of the scene I tried hard to convey this.
