The Pacific White-sided Dolphin is one of the charismatic creatures of the Northwest that doesn’t get a whole lot of publicity, no doubt mostly because it lives its live mostly out of sight of Humans. Recently, at about the same time I published this print, a pod of 1300 were seen just 20 miles off the Washington coast. I have been in a boat near the continental shelf when it became engulfed in a pod of about 350, some of which chose to bow-ride, a very moving experience.
This is a remaster of a painting I did in 1990. It essentially crops the top half of the painting and reduces the number of individuals to three. I am thrilled with it.
