This is a very new painting (March 2026) I did in the flush of enthusiasm after I published the Orca-on-white print. Now I’m working on a Steelhead to make a third entry into this category.  I hope I did OK on this painting. If anyone looks at this painting and so much as knits their eyebrows I’ll start going into my “I’m a Bird guy, not a Fish guy” routine and apologize in advance for any mistakes that might be in it.  That said, in this first iteration it might be too red.  Most aren’t this red I’m sure. Many seem to show nice yellow-greens and browns  increasing toward the front of the individual, but not all.  I am working from a number of photos that show individuals that are very bright red, and I reserve the right to paint the most extreme in individual variations.  I’d love feedback on this though since it’s true, I’m a Bird guy not a Fish guy.
