#610 The Falls in Autumn (Snoqualmie Falls & Chestnut-backed Chickadee) (9 x 12) fits 11 x 14 mat

This painting, an acrylic on illustration board, was begun in 2013. After 7 years, I became unsure of the secondary subject, which had been a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.  It’s not that I don’t adore Ruby-crowned Kinglets, but I began to hanker for the black and white pattern that a Chickadee would offer and not only is the Chestnut-backed Chickadee very likely at the Falls, it fits perfectly with the color scheme. (The Black-capped Chickadee is a deciduous tree specialist, the Chestnut-backed prefers conifers and is a tad smaller with a “rubber-ducky” voice.

The falls of course is Snoqualmie Falls near Fall City, WA about 30 miles east of Seattle. I took slight liberties when it comes to the landscape, as always.
