For anyone who gets those two cities confused–Poulsbo, Washington and Paris, France–and who wouldn’t? This is just the print for you. No Seine River in this, no pointless tall tower (not that there’s all that much point to the Space Needle I guess), and no LeftBank. This is Poulsbo, the body of water is Liberty Bay and the boats–mostly working boats, are docked at the Poulsbo Marina. The ducks are Barrow’s Goldeneye, one of the under-celebrated glamour ducks of Western Washington, particularly in winter when they fly west on a migratory route, rather than south from the high mountain lakes of the Cascades and Rocky Mountains, where they breed, to rest and recuperate for the winter.
Neither Maria Schneider nor Marlon Brando were willing to pose for this painting.
The last boat on the pier is named “Tango.” Who knows if another boat named Tango will ever dock in Poulsbo, but it seems unlikely.
