This is a signature bird of Washington’s forests. It has seemed almost downright common in confer forests just east of the Cascade crest. It is a hardy Warbler that often chooses to spend the winter in Western Washington rather than going south with the majority of Warblers, including most Townsends. Perhaps this choice is being rewarded more often now that we are deep in the era of climate change.
