#740 All around the Purple Heather Bear Family (8 x 10)

This is a relatively new painting of a Black Bear Family in the high country. The scene is based on Ptarmigan Ridge and the mountain is based on Mount Shuksan. The Bears look like Grizzleys perhaps but are intended to be Black Bears. Black Bears in the North Cascades are often brown and seem large, and even to have a bit of a shoulder-hump, judging by the photos of a Mom and cub I was working from in the North Cascades taken by my friend Rick Droker.  (Thanks Rick).
