This painting is the view of the West Point Lighthouse in Discovery Park, Seattle, WA, from the south.  I won’t make predictions about this winter as there has been a frightful recent cliff-like decline in the number of beautiful birds in the world, but for most of the 50 or so years I’ve lived in Seattle you could find a small flock of Sanderlings foraging on the beaches of “Disco.” These are juvenile birds, adults would have a smoother gray back.
