Tufted Puffins. The note on the back reads: Tufted Puffin The Puffin’s cute appearance and 8″ high stature belie a deceptively tough triathlete. During the breeding season the Puffin parent may fly up to 20 miles to find fishing; then dive to a depth of 250 ft. below the surface, then up return sprint the final distance to the burrow-and the waiting, hungry chick. Tufted Puffins brreed in coastal areas in an arc from California all the way to Japan, and can be found April through July in breeding islands and cliffs in the Northwest.
