Caspian Terns are often casually mistaken for Gulls as they fly around the  Salish Sea and large lakes in the areaa, buty they are most definitely not Gulls.  Rather they are the largest of the World’s Terns, very strong flyers with a deep and rapid wingbeat that make a living by plunge-diving for fish. With a Smart Black crest, large scarlet bill and sparkling white wings (if viewed from above) they qualify as a glamour-bird, but gets surprisingly little attention in the world. These birds need a better PR firm than Ed Newbold Wildlife Artist.
