This is the newest, (August 18, 2018 ) version of a new painting begun in September of 2017, from a walk near Paradise where we saw a Bear and two Rufous Hummingbirds as well as Pipits. The main flower cluster is Scarlet Monkeyflower, Mimulus Gutata. I’m terrible at botany but also have tried to put in Asters, Arnica, Lupine, Paintbrush, Pedicularus, bistort and Sitka Valerian. The peak-flower period was past but it was still astonishing.
