A painting of a Cooper’s Hawk I began in 2023. The model was a bird that spent a lot of down-time in our recirculating creek, Butyl Creek. We thought it was a he, (smaller size). He was never hunting, always having a full crop, just enjoying life, often with his tail in the pond.  We have a photo of this bird (perhaps) when he was young eating a Rat, a reason to never use Rat Poison or patronize Pest control companies that do, and most do. The secondary poisoning of raptors will decrease the number of Rat predators, and so the Pest Control companies will be guaranteed business forever.
