#71 Common Loon (for 8 x 10 mat)

Common Loons are most often seen in the Pacific Northwest as wintering birds. We don’t normally hear them singing, but never say never. We were watching some wintering Loons in early spring off Whidbey Island and I said, “They don’t sing here, only the folks up north get to hear their wonderful song.” Not a moment later, one sang. (It turns out to be not that unusual when they are getting ready to head North).
