Back in the early 80s at the Market I used to get my coffee from a little store that had the best coffee I had ever tasted. If you were lucky, there would be no one else at the counter, and the baristas were fast which was important when you had deserted your booth in search of a fix. It wasn’t till much later that people began actually coming to the Market to see this store, and that’s when I decided to paint it. This is the acrylic/gouache original the painting that is printed in several sizes, from Notecard to 14 x 18 and available 24/7 at this website and at the Pike Place Market store at 1st and Pike. By the signature I wrote “2005,” and I recall doing this in one burst and never really reworking it, which is very unusual and is kind of a compliment to the painting. It is on canvas stretched on a wood frame 18 x 24 inches.
